I read several of these books when I was young, along with Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Trixie Belden, and Cherry Ames. I remember 2 stories within the story, that I thought was in one of the Dana Girls books, but now I’m not so sure. The first story was a school friend (Ithink) who is a loner and rather sad. It is learned that she had a younger sister whom she adored. One day the young woman went for a walk. Along the way she drew some water from the well and drank it. She then took some back to the other sister, who also drank it, only to contract something from the contaminated water and die. The second story (I’m sure was from the same book) was a horror tale told by some girls one night about an old castle with a servant who went mad and killed another servant. Someone in the castle awoke in the night to see a figure at the end of their bed and it looked as if the person was sewing. It was revealed they were slowly pulling the hair out of the scalp of the person they had killed. Do these sound familiar?
